The BSG database and Seasonal Occurrences chart were used to compile the data found in the monthly checklists.

The BSG database is:

  • a computerized database of birds seen in an eight-parish area of Northwestern Louisiana,
  • maintained in conjunction with the LSUS Museum of Life Sciences, and
  • includes records of more than 30 years of bird sightings from Caddo, Bossier, Bienville, Red River, DeSoto, Webster, Claiborne, and the northern part of Natchitoches Parishes.
